Before you start: Confluence Cloud and Jira Cloud on the same Atlassian site, a Confluence admin to install, and Jira access for everyone who builds or views charts.
Choose the Confluence site, review the two read-only Jira scopes (read:jira-work, read:jira-user), and confirm. Paid tiers start a 30-day free trial.
If the install flow offered to connect Jira, accept it. Otherwise open Atlassian Administration → your site → Connected apps → Bespoke → Connections and click Connect on the Jira Apps row. No other settings exist.
Edit a page, place your cursor, and insert Bespoke Jira Chart from the / or + menu. A fullscreen editor opens with a live preview that updates as you build.
The first time you use the app, a banner reads "Connect to Jira so this chart can read your work items." Click the button and approve Atlassian's permission dialog. That grants the app read-only access to Jira as you, with your own Jira permissions. You won't be asked again on this site.
Search for a project or saved filter as you type, type a custom JQL search with live autocomplete on fields, operators, and values, or pick a project type or project category. Choose Pie, Donut, Bar, Stacked bar, or KPI, and pick any field — including custom fields — to group and stack by.
Pick a color per group, toggle the legend and data labels, and set the chart height to Small, Medium, or Large — turn on Compact spacing to tile several charts side by side in a page column. Click Save and the chart renders for every viewer.
The chart re-runs the search as the person viewing the page.
A viewer who has never used the app on this site clicks Connect to Jira, then Allow access in Atlassian's dialog. The chart renders and they are not asked again.
Two people looking at the same chart on the same page can see different totals and segments if their Jira project permissions differ. Nobody sees data they couldn't already see in Jira.
A viewer with no Jira product access on the site keeps seeing the "Connect to Jira" card instead of a chart — never a broken macro or someone else's numbers.
